Description
The Nagao Japanese Folding Knife Higonokami Tiger in the Woods Black is an authentic, handmade Japanese friction folder crafted by the Nagao Kanekoma Factory (長尾兼古刃物製作所) in Miki City, Japan. As the last remaining workshop officially registered to use the historic Higonokami trademark, Nagao has preserved traditional bladesmithing techniques passed down for over a century.
The blade is forged using the traditional Warikomi method, laminating a hard high-carbon steel core between protective softer iron cladding. At the core is premium Aogami (Blue Paper Steel), renowned among bladesmiths for achieving an exceptionally sharp, long-lasting edge. The black-lacquered steel handle features a detailed engraved tiger in a bamboo forest finished in elegant gold lacquer. Operable without a mechanical lock, the friction-folder design utilizes a traditional “Chikiri” thumb lever at the spine to hold the blade open safely during use. Presented in a humidity-resistant paulownia (kiri) wood box, this large Higonokami combines timeless craftsmanship, cultural heritage, and functional cutting performance.
