CPM-154 powdered metallurgy steel offers a more uniform distribution of carbides, so it takes and holds an excellent edge, while providing solid corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and toughness. To keep the Launch 1 lightweight, the handles are durable anodized aluminum, contoured to sit securely in the hand.

The Launch 1 opens via a push button, recessed level with the flat of the handle as a safety feature that helps prevent accidental deployment. As with any automatic knife, it should still be handled with care at all times.
