It all began with the 110 Folding Hunter — the 112 Ranger is its smaller, equally iconic sibling.
The story goes that the 110 could be found on many sailors’ belts in the Navy, until a fight involving the knife led a ship’s captain to issue a decree limiting the blade length knives could carry aboard. The 110 was too long to meet the new rule, so Buck Knives took the initiative and created the Ranger — a smaller version of the 110 built to the same exacting standards. Today, the 112 remains another traditional Buck favorite.
The clip point blade is made from 420HC stainless steel, offering dependable edge holding, easy sharpening, and solid corrosion resistance for everyday use. It’s paired with a genuine ebony handle and brass bolsters, giving the knife classic good looks along with lasting durability, and it locks securely open thanks to Buck’s proven lockback design. Closing down to a compact 4 1/4″ (10.8 cm), the 112 Ranger comes with a leather sheath for easy belt carry.
